What do you actually know about the Biblical teaching on the tithe? Well, here is your chance to find out! Below are twenty questions worth five points each. Normally, 60% would be a passing grade. But in this case, I want you to study this subject until you score 100%! Why do I want this? Well, if your income averages $50K a year, after fifty years, you csr insurance have given a quarter of a million dollars to the local church. It does seem sensible to ask some questions about this - and know some answers. Actually, it is wrong for you to give 10% of your gross income to anybody without knowing for Sea Devils it is God's will ...100% sure. That's why I want you to work on this until you are an A+ student!

So, ... get your pen and paper and take this 3 minute test right now. I know you are not going to cheat. Go!

1. How many Bible authors wrote commands about the tithe - its purpose, amount and procedures?

2. Who are they?

3. What was done with the third and sixth year tithe? Who had access to it?

4. Can you explain the "tithe cycle" of the Israelites?

5. What was done with the tithe every seventh year?

6. Explain Abram's tithe. What did Abram give Melchizedek?

7. Did any of the Levites tithe? If so, to whom and how much?

8. How much money did the tithers give to the Levitical Priests?

9. In the "to the Levites" tithing years, did all the tithe go to the Levites?

10. What group did Jacob give his tenth to?

11. What were the conditions God must meet before Jacob would give that tenth?

12. When was the tithe "rediscovered?"

13. Who is credited with that "rediscovery?"

14. What was the catalyst for that "rediscovery?"

15. Is tithing the number one responsibility for the Christian and his/her money?

16. What kind of curse should the Christian expect for failing to tithe (Mal 3:17-23)?

17. Where did Jesus tell Christians to bring their tithe?

18. Where did Paul, or the other New Testament writers, tell Christians to bring the tithe?

19. When the Corinthians, and others, were making their collection for the saints, what was done with that collection before Paul and company took it to Judea?

20. Can the tithe be given to parachurch ministries?

Before grading yourself (why the rush?), let's first consider one other thing. If someone is telling you that God commands 10% of your gross income go to the local church for life - that person should be willing to answer a few questions (like ... maybe twenty?). And if that person scores under 60%, well, ... where I come from, that constitutes an "F." Should you be expected to yield to such "expertise?" But, even if expected ... should you?

How to administer "The Tithe Test" to others.

1. Practice on a friend or two (I did). It's fun.

2. Let your "testee" know you took a test about the tithe - and share your score. Tell them you are curious how well they can do. My friends were eager to show me up.

3. Either give the test orally or lay a copy of this before them. In either case, let them write down their answers. All that really matters is that the test is taken right then, in the order written, as a "pop quiz." No questions in advance - or taken home.

4. Grade it on the spot (they will want to know how they did).

The Answers

"The mind of the intelligent seeks knowledge, but the mouth of fools feeds on folly" (Pr 15:14).

To calculate the score, count the number of correct answers and multiply by 5.

1. One.

2. Moses. In Malachi, God was speaking and simply reiterated the commands in the Law.

3. It was kept in the local town. It was for the local Levite, alien, orphan, and widow.

4. Year one, two, four and five were taken to the designated place (eventually Jerusalem). Year three and six - see question 3 answer. Year seven - see below.

5. There wasn't one. There was not one on year fifty (Year of Jubilee) either.

6. He gave him 10% of the choicest spoils of a bunch of stuff he had no intention of keeping anyway. He gave nothing of his own possessions.

7. Yes. Those Levites not of Aaron's family gave a tithe of the tithe they received. They gave it to the priests of Aaron's family.

8. None. The tithe was never money.

9. The tithe of year one, two, four and five were shared by the tither with the Levite in a celebratory meal when the tithe was given. What was left over stayed with the Levite. In year three and six, it appears the tither deposited the whole amount in the local town without partaking of any of it.

10. There was no "group" to give it to of which we know. If the testee simply says, "God," go ahead and give him/her credit. The testee is still going to flunk.

11. God had to be with him, keep him on his journey, give him food to eat, give him garments to wear, and return him safely to his father's house. At that point, God would be his God. The tenth came (we assume) twenty years later. It was a vow fulfillment.

12. After the Bill of Rights was adopted in the United States.

13. American Theologians in the Higher Criticism of Systematic Theology.

14. The loss of the church's ability to tax citizens (The First Amendment in the Bill of Rights) caused a equity line of credit rates crisis in the church. That led to this "rediscovery."

15. No. Family responsibilities come first. There is no tithe for Christians anyway.

16. There aren't any. Christians are not Jews under Law.

17. He didn't, because there isn't one.

18. They didn't, because there isn't one.

19. It was saved ... most likely at home by each contributor.

20. There is no such thing as a parachurch ministry, and there is no tithe for the Christian either. All the assumptions in this question are nonsense.

These answers are correct.

The teaching that is going around today is not the Tithe of the Bible. In fact, this "new teaching" is totally foreign to the Bible. A legitimate Biblical word and teaching (tithe) has been hijacked - and applied it to this new concoction.

God does have specific priorities for your money. But those purposes are not a part of this "new teaching." This "tithe" teaching is actually extortion in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. But, it is not just the extortioner who will be held to account. The one being duped is also accountable. It is our responsibility to seek out God's knowledge and will in all matters. And in this matter, "I have not spoken in secret, in some dark land" (Isa 45:19). God's material on the tithe, and His priorities for our money, are clearly stated in the Bible - there for the reading.

So, how did you do? Are you comfortable with your current knowledge level on this matter?

This Test comes from Robin's Ebook on the www.freelygive-n.com/Tithe_and_Offering.html">Tithe and Offering. He decides that he will use his words as weapons, appealing to the humanistic and emotional qualities in man and society. As irs help young man living in Memphis, Tennessee, Wright began an intense reading period in which he became familiar with a wide range of authors, many of them contemporary American authors. Of that period in his life he wrote: Reading was like a drug, a dope. The novels created moods in which I lived for days

Despite the violent and depressing images presented in "Black Boy", Wright himself seems to have shed his cynicism, ending with a note of hope. The song he quotes "Arise, you wretched of the earths a better world's in birth" expresses his new profound belief that eventually, society will rise above its ills and prejudices. Wright even shows his optimism by shedding the images of childhood and of the brutal South: "The days of my youth, were receding from me like a rolling tide, leaving me alone upon high, dry ground, leaving me with a quieter and deeper consciousness."

Wright's ranking first in the postal service examination in Chicago in 1937 brought him an offer of permanent position at 2,000 dollars a year. But he turns the offer down to move to New York city to pursue a career as a writer. He attends the Second American Writer's Congress as a delegate even serving as a session president. It was here that he stressed that writers should think of themselves as writers first and not as laborers. He becomes the Harlem editor of the Communist newspaper Daily Worker for which he writes 200 articles during the year. He also helps launch the magazine New Challenge designed to present black life "in relationship to the struggle against war and Fascism."

He now tries to sharpen his conception of literary form and seeks to work out the relationship between the techniques of fiction and the tenets of Marxism. To achieve this, he publishes his influential essay, "Blueprint for Negro Writing " in the November issue of New Challenge as his own attempt to outlining a literary theory for black American writers. Blueprint was like a manifesto and declaration of independence from what he judged to be bourgeois literary forms and agendas long dominant in black letters. Distancing himself from the writings of the Harlem Renaissance, Wright urges black writers to embrace a Marxist conception of reality and society which offers in his judgment the "maximum degree of freedom in thought and feeling ...for the Negro writer" that would even transcend nationalism.

Wright executed his own blueprint in his short story collection, Uncle Tom's Children a collection of four stories set in the Jim Crow South with which he launched his literary career. The stories though often flawed by Marxist propagandizing, melodrama, ponderous didactism and improbable plots show some of the major influences on his fiction which includes: naturalism, Marxism, freudianism and the black folk tradition with which he had a love-hate relationship lasting throughout his career. Wright gained national attention for this collection which fictionalized the incidents of lynching in the Deep South. One of the stories there "Fire and Cloud" won the O'Henry Memorial award in 1938. The whole collection won first prize for the Story magazine contest open to Federal Writer's Project authors for best book-length manuscript. Harper's published the collection with "Fire and Cloud," "Long Black Song," "Down by the Riverside," and "Big Boy Leaves Home"; in 1940 the story "Bright and Morning Star" was added, and the book was reissued. The collection earned him a Guggenheim Fellowship, which allowed him to complete his first novel, Native Son (1940).

After Uncle Tom's Children, Wright declared in "How Bigger Was Born" that he needed to write a book that bankers' daughters would not be able to "read and feel good about," that would "be so hard and deep that they would have to face it without the consolation of tears"; That novel was Native Son which followed in 1940. Native Son was uncompromisingly honest and unsparing in its depiction of the roughness and cruelties of black life.It contained extremities of violence and horror which are not likely to inspire anything but fear and significantly enough Wright titled the first of the book's three parts FEAR. Many white Americans saw Bigger Thomas, the central character as a symbol of the entire black community. Wright who is himself an avid filmgoer wanting to give the story a sense of immediacy and closeness, told the story in the present as he 'wanted the reader to feel that Bigger's story was happening now, like a play upon a stage or a movie..."

This young black man, Bigger Thomas lives in a one-room apartment in Chicago's South Side Black Belt with his mother, his younger sister, Vera, and younger brother, Buddy. Bigger in time gets employed by the Daltons, a wealthy white family, as their chauffeur. The rat-infested building in which Bigger his mother, his brother and his sister is owned by Mr Dalton who instead of maintaining and letting out decent houses prefers to cover up his sins by giving out money for social welfare. The Dalton's liberal-minded daughter, Mary, befriends Bigger as he drives her and she leads him to drive her under an oath of secrecy to the Communist headquarters where they pick her boyfriend, Jan Erlone and go out for a treat. Having taken too much drink, Mary gets stone drunk so much so that Bigger had to carry her bodily into her room. He was on the process of laying her properly down on the bed when he heard the approaching footsteps of her blind mother. He got frightened of the dire consequences he might face for being with Mary in the room. So he covered her up with clothes and shielded her mouth with a pillow in the process, smothering her to death. In a further display of panic he burns the body, decapitates and cremates it in the basement chimney where he hopes discovery will be impossible. He furthermore deflects Who Can Use Viagra from himself by attempting to implicate Jan, since his being a communist he could readily be accepted as the bad guy capable of doing such evil and heartless acts. He feels so invigorated by what he has done that he tries to extort money from the wealthy Daltons. When that fails and Mary's bones are discovered, he murders his own black girlfriend, Bessie, in a further but vain attempt to cover uip his tracks. He is soon captured and confined in prison awaiting trial. It was there that Bigger feels for the first time a sense of freedom: "Seems sort of natural-like, me being here facing that death chair. Now I come to think of it, it seems like something like this just had to be. He is then condemned to death and faces his destiny unrepentantly. affirming that 'what I killed for, I am!' Yet in prison, he comes to terms with the need for a common brotherhood.

The day this novel considered Wright's most monumental fictional achievement appeared, Irving Howe declared "American culture was changed forever. It became an instant bestseller selling out within hours in some bookstores and selling 215,000 copies in its first three weeks of publication. It also established Wright as a major twentieth century writer.

Native Son made Wright the most respected and wealthiest black writer in America. It was the first bestselling novel by a black American writer and the first Book-of-the-Month Club selection by an Mywifesmoney writer. He was awarded the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People's prestigious Spingarn Medal in 1941.

The novel also marked a high point in the history of the Negro novel not only because it is a work of art in its own right but because it influenced a whole generation of Negro novelists. Its mix of urban realism, sociological theory and naturalistic determination helped to define and influence almost the entire sweep of African-American fiction of the post-World-War 11 era.

The lead character, Bigger Thomas, served to represent the limitations that society placed on African Americans, and illustrated that Thomas could only gain his own agency and self-knowledge by committing heinous acts. Wright was criticized for both works' concentration on violence, and, in the case of Native Son, for portraying a black person in ways which might seem to confirm whites' worst fears. For many white Americans saw Bigger Thomas as a symbol of the entire black race.

Wright is also renowned for the autobiographical Black Boy (1945), which describes his early life from Roxie through his move to Chicago, his clashes with his Seventh-day Adventist family, his troubles with white employers and social isolation. American Hunger, (published posthumously in 1977) was originally intended as the second book of Black Boy and is restored to this form in the Library of America edition.

This book details his involvement with the John Reed Clubs and the Communist Party, which he left in 1942, though the book implies that it was earlier, and his leaving was not made public until 1944. In its restored form, its diptych structure mirrors the certainties and intolerance of organized communism, (the "bourgeois" books to McCarthyism, Wright was blacklisted by the Hollywood movie studio executives in the 1950s.

The later section about his life in Chicago and experience with the Communist party was not published until 1977 under the title American Hunger. Wright's publishers in 1945 had only wanted the story of his life in the South and cut what followed about his life in the North. There have been numerous biographies of Wright, but all must begin with Black Boy, Wright's personal and emotional account of his childhood and adolescence in the Jim Crow South. In a famous passage in the autobiography that has bothered critics and set Wright apart from the African-American sense of community, he asserts the "cultural barrenness of black life": " . . . I used to mull over the strange absence of real kindness in Negroes, how unstable was our tenderness, how lacking in genuine passion we were, how void of great hope, how timid our joy, how bare our traditions, how hollow our memories, how lacking we were in those intangible sentiments that bind man to man, and how shallow was even our despair." He found an "unconscious irony" in the idea that "Negroes led so passionate an existence": "I saw that what had been taken for our emotional strength was our negative confusions, our flights, our fears, our frenzy under pressure." Statements like these are contradicted by others that describe a caring community. For example, when Wright's mother suffers a paralytic stroke, "the neighbors nursed my mother day and night, fed us and washed our clothes," and Wright admits to being "ashamed that so often in my life I had to be fed by strangers."

Born and schooled in Freetown, Sierra Leone, Arthur Smith has taught English for over thirty years now at various Educational Institutions. He is now a Senior Lecturer of English at Fourah Bay College where he has been lecturing for the past eight years.

Mr Smith's writings have been in various international media like West Africa Magazine, Index onCensorship, Focus on Library and Information Work, myfreearticlecentral.com, freeonlinelibrary.com, mabaylareview.org and nathanielturner.com. The 2008 Ford Escape and its hybrid version have already been released and so are other auto models from different car manufacturers.

In the United States, as prices of gasoline increases, hybrid cars have been gaining popularity. For the 2008 model year, it is expected that car manufacturers will be introducing more hybrid vehicles as the demand for this type of automobiles increases. Another technology though is set to be unleashed into the United States and Canadian auto markets in the form of clean diesel engines. Next year, it is expected that European and Japanese car manufacturers will be introducing diesel cars in the said auto markets. In Europe, the use of diesel engines is already Refinance house thanks to companies like Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz. The success of diesel engines in the region is expected to give diesel engines a better reputation in the United States.

For years after the 1970s and 80s decades, Americans have been staying away from diesel engines. It can be remembered that this engine technology was introduced in the 1970s in the United States. Unfortunately, the diesel engines of old are known for their black soot emissions and in some King Tut poor reliability. Newer diesel engines though have overcome this problem with the use of better emission filter technology.

The Ford Super Duty already available in the market boasts of having a powerful diesel engine with emission similar to that of a gasoline engine. The Super Duty is one of the vehicles that can promote the use of cleaner diesel engines. The problems encountered in the use of bio-ethanol is also another reason seen that will help popularize the use of diesel cars.

Flex-fuel vehicles in the United States which are designed to run on a combination of gasoline and bio-ethanol is recently being criticized due to the lack of fuel refilling stations offering E85 - the alternative fuel composed of 15 percent gasoline and 85 percent bio-ethanol. In a recent study, it was found out that 99 percent of flex-fuel vehicles in the United States are actually using conventional gasoline thereby beating the purpose of these supposed to be environment friendly vehicles.

Already, European car manufacturers have expressed their intentions to release diesel vehicles in the United States next year. The German Volkswagen has been selling diesel-powered vehicles in the mortgage loan for decades and at present, they will upgrade their engines by using a cleaner technology dubbed as the Blue Motion. The first Volkswagen auto model which will use the clean diesel technology is the Jetta.

Another German car manufacturer which will introduce diesel-powered vehicles in the U.S. next year is Mercedes Benz. Sport utility vehicles or SUVs, known as the favorite of American car buyers, will be what Mercedes Benz will be equipping with their clean diesel engines. Already announced to be released in the United States auto market are diesel versions of the M-Class, R-Class, and the GL-Class. These vehicles will be equipped with clean diesel engines and other soot cleaning technologies from the engine to their Mercedes Benz mufflers and out the exhaust pipe. Aside from these European carmakers a Japanese company has expressed their intention to introduce a diesel car in the U.S.

Nissan, the third largest Japanese car manufacturer announced that they will be producing a diesel-powered Maxima sedan in the near future.

One problem in the way of the promotion of use of diesel engines in the United States is the availability of diesel fuel. Not more than 50 percent of all refueling stations in the country are offering diesel engines. Fortunately though, the oil industry is clearly supporting the use of diesel-powered vehicles. The Marathon Petroleum Company recently earmarked $3.2 billion for the expansion of their refineries that is expected to increase the availability of diesel fuel in refilling stations across the United States.

Another problem faced by diesel powered-vehicles in the country is consumer acceptance. Although new technologies have made diesel engines cleaner than their ancestors, its reputation has been tarnished heavily. Gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles are also popular among car buyers and it would be something that diesel cars must contend with. Furthermore, the use of advanced emission cleaning technology gives these diesel engines a price almost equal to that of hybrid vehicles. In the end, it would be a matter of preference that will spell the success or lack of it for diesel-powered vehicles.

Anthony Fontanelle is a 35-year-old automotive.buff who grew up in the Windy City. Imagine how great it would feel to be able to convince someone to do pretty much whatever you suggest, or believe virtually anything you say. Well, this will only be possible if you can master the use of the "presuming question". This is one of the most powerful conversational hypnosis tips so pay attention.

One of the ways you can make it more powerful is to actually answer for the subject. Let's return to the example of the TV salesperson. Instead of him saying "...would you continue to use it?" If he were to say, "you would probably continue to use it right?" this would make for a much more powerful phrase.

Why?

Because the thought of continuing to use the item in question has been put into the head of the subject already. Removing "right" or any variant such as "am I right" would turn the phrase into a statement and make it less persuasive as it does not provoke the subconscious mind of the subject, so ensure you keep that part of the question.

Another way is to invoke more than one emotion at a time when asking the question. Because humans are essentially emotionally based creatures, appealing to someone's sense of emotion will make you much, much more persuasive.

In the example of the TV sales person, he/she could have asked "if this new TV had a really great picture and you were pleased with it, it brought excitement into your life and made boredom vanish in your household, you would probably continue to use it right?" This is much more persuasive and powerful for the salesperson and would probably deliver far superior results than had only one sense of emotion been appealed to. By using "presuming questions" effectively in everyday situations, you will quickly master one of the most powerful conversational hypnosis tips.

hypnosis.x10hosting.com/review.html">Click here for more information about how to master conversational hypnosis and to learn more about hypnosis.x10hosting.com/review.html">conversational hypnosis tips and the use of "presuming questions" at Adrian Saunder's "Conversational Hypnosis Online" website. With the advent of the web, now more than ever, it is easier to reach people across the world and to make an income online. Establishing a web presence may be as simple as strategically submitting press releases for special occasions in the company. Or maybe you caught the Web 2.0 bug and want to start a blog. Go for it!

The key to utilizing the web is traffic. You can have the greatest site and the greatest products and services, sql server restore if no one can find your site, or you aren't actively promoting it, then what is the point? That would be like owning a brick and mortar store, but never telling anyone about it. If you do have a traditional store or an office, then website is a great compliment and can become an income-producing asset for the company.

Another great point about the web is that you can focus on your specialty. Search engine spiders, in fact, prefer sites that are focused on a particular topic. That may seem like common sense, but many companies may still be trying to market to the world and not their focused niche. A great example of websites that are niche-focused can be found on Squidoo. People create lenses about a certain topic such as a book, or a movie, or a character or a business and write about it, share their thoughts, create a dialog and more. My recommendation is to build a few lenses on Squidoo, track your traffic and comments and test things out. As you begin to see what works and what doesn't work, then you can start to put that information to work into a full on website or blog. In any case, the more sites and networks you are a part of, the more easily your site and products will be found. It can be daunting at first- take it conference calling companies do your research and it will all fall together.

Business is people. You had Tortilla Chips Proupictbhkop place, a secret place. Maybe it was a corner of your closet, a shed in the back yard or a house in the trees.

You made your sanctuary, it was for you and your closest, most "best-est" friends only. In it, you kept your special things, your special secrets and spent hours dreaming your special dreams.

Chances are you still long for that sacred, secret space. The good news is that with a bit of imagination and determination, you can recreate that feeling today.

Here are 5 Steps to Create your Sweet Sanctuary.

1. Decide what you need:

Do you need a place to sit quietly with a cup of tea, a book, and your journal? A place to pray and meditate and do yoga? Your needs will dictate the amount of Anetatbuasg you need. Do you need sunlight and a view? You deserve a beautiful space. Remember that your needs are important.

2. Find your special spot

Walk around your home and look for your special piece of real estate. Consider privacy and location. Once you have found it, clear away everything that doesn't fit with your sanctuary theme. You will not want to share your sacred space with your children's toys or your partners sports magazines and remote controls.

3. Cleanse and Bless your Sanctuary

Once you have found the perfect spot and cleaned it out, you need to rededicate it to its new purpose. You may want to burn some incense or sage and smudge the space to clear out the old energy and make room for the new. Set your intention for this to be a place of safety, of your special purpose.

4. Build your alter or shrine
Every sacred space needs a focal point. This is the heart of your sanctuary. This is a place to concentrate on your intentions, whether in prayer, meditation or activity of your choosing. Cover a table or dresser with a beautiful cloth. Add candles, elemental representatives, pictures of ancestors, anything of personal significance. There are many resources for creating your alter/shrine available.

5. Create the rest of your space

Design the rest of your sanctuary to allow you to spend your time as you like. Concentrated body movements, journaling, reading, meditating, Chocolate etc... You may want floor pillows, yoga mat, music and a basket for your journals and books... make it all about you.

Creating sacred space does not need to be difficult. Your sanctuary can be as simple or as elaborate as you like. There is no right way, no wrong way, only your way with this. Have fun with it...

Decide to spend regular time in your space, getting quiet, going within, centering and dreaming your dreams. The beauty of creating sacred space is that it will answer a yearning in a way that nothing else can. Namaste.

Wishing you Peace & Abundance... Ask any Texas Holdem Poker player what the worst hand is, the worst neat blog hole cards, and he or she will invariably say, the 2-7 unsuited (U). There is no denying that the 2-7 (U) is the hardest hand to build a winner with, but that doesn't necessarily make it the worse or better still, the most dangerous hand, in fact, the 2-7 (U) is one of the best hands you can draw.

Puzzled about that statement? Here is why those two hole cards aren't so bad. When was the last time you lost on a 2-7 unsuited? Starting to understand now? The worst hand in Texas Holdem Poker is the hand you seriously underestimate. Opening with a weak hand and playing it wrong is bad enough, but sticking with it when you should have folded is even worse.

More players have gone bust with a pair of pocket rockets (AA) more times than with a 2-7 U. How well do you know the expectations for each pair based on the players at the table or in the pot? For instance, you're sitting on a big slick, suited (S), before the flop, there are six players at the table, what are the Ironmancomics that there is one other player with an ace in the hole?

Believe it or not, many players can't answer that very quickly, but almost everyone knows what the worst hand is. I won't deny that poker is a betting and bluffing game, but you still need to know the odds and expectations, the probabilities, otherwise you are playing in the dark. Not knowing how to play any hand makes it the most dangerous hand you can draw.
